The Amana-Goodman 0162R00007 Muffler is an essential part of some HVAC systems which is used to help minimize noise produced by the movement of refrigerant or any other fluid in the system. This muffler has a connection size of 1/2” x 1/2” and is mainly used in residential and light commercial air conditioning systems This muffler is in fact a small chamber or expansion area within the refrigerant line. It operates on the basis of acoustic impedance. Fluid flow through a pipe can produce noise because of turbulence, pressure variations and variation of velocity and this is the case of the refrigerant fluid.
